April is nationally recognized as Bilingual/Multilingual Learner Advocacy Month, a time to highlight the importance of supporting students who speak multiple languages and come from diverse cultural backgrounds. At D214, our diverse student body represents more than 72 different language groups, with English learners making up 16.4% (approximately 2,100 students) of our total population. This month emphasizes advocacy for equitable educational opportunities, ensuring these students have the resources and support needed to succeed academically and thrive socially. Through events and programs, we raise awareness of how linguistic diversity enhances education and fosters an inclusive school environment.
