For two teachers, Career Pathway leads to home
This is how it’s meant to work. This is what District 214 envisioned: A redesigned and robust Education Pathway and Education Academy experience that would send graduating seniors off to college with a big head start in teaching experience and, eventually, bring those same graduates home to teach in District 214.

D214 honors top student-athletes with Howard Lester Award
Audrey Ginsberg and Ben Valak are the 2022 recipients of High School District 214’s Howard Lester Awards. The awards are presented annually to one male and one female senior athlete in recognition of athletic achievements, academics and character, including truthfulness, heart and effort.

Science comes to life at Wheeling STEM camps
Messy Spectacular Science, Build a Boat and Spa Science, these are just some of the classes offered at this year’s STEM camps at Wheeling High School. Young learners in the community, ranging from first through eighth graders, were fully immersed in science and technology in this week-long summer camp.

Students and teachers from two District 214 schools have been giving back this year—as part of a unique opportunity to help out military veterans.

Nanotechnology students shine at state expo
Where can you find gold medal scientists in District 214? In the Wheeling High School nanotechnology lab. Nanotech students, under the guidance of Wheeling science teachers Carol Bouvier and Dr. Greg Wallace, took projects developed in class to the Illinois Junior Academy of Science state exposition in Peoria on April 22 and 23—and came back with gold medals and more.
