Talent Development Program (TDP)
The Talent Development Program includes the TDP Summer Enrichment Series and the TDP Student Leadership Committee.
TDP Summer Enrichment Series
TDP Summer Enrichment is a District-wide program comprising innovative weeklong courses that reach beyond traditional classroom lessons. These non-credit seminars cover a wide array of areas, including graphic arts, forensic science, culinary arts, automotive care, creative writing and more. An all-District summer musical also is part of the TDP Summer Enrichment series. Most summer seminars are offered in one-week installments from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and are taught by District teachers. The cost is typically $75 per seminar, plus applicable fees. FOR 2021 ONLY, all course fees have been reduced to $25 (including any materials fees). Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the the District 214 schools where their course is being held. Courses are subject to cancellation if minimum enrollment numbers are not met. Refunds will only be given if a course is cancelled.

TDP Student Leadership Committee
The TDP Leadership Committee is a student-led board composed of one junior and one senior class member from each District 214 high school. Students meet four times a year to provide a student perspective in TDP programming. Members are selected by building administration based on their success in various AP classes and demonstrated leadership skills.
AP Ready! Night
AP Ready! Night is targeted to first-time AP students and their parents. This District-wide evening event highlights the advantages of enrolling in a rigorous course load and the role of AP classes in the college admissions process. AP teachers offer informational sessions about the AP Ready! Program, and District 214’s dual credit coordinator discusses dual credit options. The event is held in the Spring each year. This year, due to circumstances beyond our control, all District 214 buildings are closed, so the content of the evening program is being made available virtually for you to review at your convenience.
The TDP Newsletter is published each fall and spring and offers information on the summer enrichment series, AP testing schedules, upcoming college and career readiness events and AP teacher spotlights.
