  • Supporting a Sense of Belonging and Safety for All Students

As part of District 214’s commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for every student, the district follows clear protocols to protect student privacy and maintain secure school environments.

In alignment with federal and state guidelines, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents are not permitted to enter any District 214 facility without a verified and signed judicial warrant. The warrant must clearly identify the specific location to be searched, including the address.

If ICE or CBP agents present documentation at a school or district site, staff are directed to immediately contact the Director of Safety and Security for guidance. During this process, agents are asked to remain outside the building while the documentation is reviewed.

Schools are not considered public spaces, and both students and school property are protected by privacy laws and constitutional safeguards. Because of this, ICE and CBP agents may not enter school facilities without consent or a valid judicial warrant. However, outdoor school events such as athletic competitions are more public in nature and may involve different privacy considerations.

In rare cases involving an immediate safety concern, access procedures may be adjusted to ensure the protection of all individuals on site.
