Students interested in becoming firefighters, fire inspectors and investigators, paramedics and other emergency management roles can gain hands-on experience through this pathway, which provides industry mentorships, internships and microinternships. In addition, four certificates are offered through Harper College.
Work Based Learning Experiences in Emergency/Fire Mgmt Services
Student interns have completed a variety of tasks in the Emergency and Fire Management Services field, including, but not limited to:
- Learn about emergency preparedness and the role emergency services plays in the community
- Develop essential skills, such as the ability to work as a team and communication
- Observe professionals in the field, such as on a ride-along or through public service events
