District 214 is proud to share that all six of our high schools have once again been ranked among the best in Illinois and the nation in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings! Out of nearly 18,000 public high schools reviewed nationwide, each of our schools placed within the top 15 percent, a true testament to the strength of our students, staff and community.
Hersey High School led the district, placing 15th in Illinois and 404th nationally, while Prospect High School followed closely at 25th in Illinois and 625th nationwide. Buffalo Grove High School earned recognition as the 55th-best school in Illinois and 1,344th nationally, with Rolling Meadows High School ranked 81st in Illinois and 2,228th in the country. Elk Grove High School was listed 115th in Illinois and 3,175th nationally, and Wheeling High School rounded out the group at 176th in Illinois and 4,678th in the nation.
Superintendent Dr. Scott Rowe shared, “Our schools are consistently recognized among the best in the state and nation, but rankings only tell part of the story. The real measure of success is how we’re preparing every student for their future.”
That vision is guided by the new Future 214 Strategic Plan, created with input from students, staff, families and the community. The plan ensures that students graduate ready for college, career and life through innovative programs, hands-on learning and strong community partnerships.
Together, these rankings and the Strategic Plan reflect District 214’s ongoing mission to inspire learning, empower all, and build community.
