Elk Grove Football Coach honored by the Bears

Published October 3, 2022

Hard work does not go unnoticed. Elk Grove High School head football coach Miles Osei was named the Chicago Bears Week 5 Coach of the Week. The program honors outstanding Illinois high school coaches who develop players' football skills and knowledge, character, leadership, discipline and teamwork abilities.

Under Osei, the Grenadiers are off to a remarkable start this season. The team went undefeated in five games for the first time in nearly two decades. The team is now playoff eligible for the first time since 2013.

A representative from the Bears came to Elk Grove High School on Monday, Oct. 3, to present Coach Osei with a custom hand-painted football and tickets to a Bears game on Dec. 18 where he will be recognized during halftime. The Bears will also donate $2,000 to Elk Grove High School’s football program.

"It is an honor to be recognized by the Chicago Bears. But the true credit goes to our kids. We've said it all along. Elk Grove High School kids are capable of achieving success. They continue to prove that,” said Osei.

Osei is a former star athlete at Prospect High School and played college football at the University of Illinois. He has been leading the Grens since 2017.
