- High School District 214 is one of the largest high school districts in Illinois.
- Six high schools and one specialized school with six programs serve about 300,000 residents in the communities of Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Elk Grove, Mount Prospect, Prospect Heights, Rolling Meadows, Wheeling and Des Plaines in a 68.30-square mile area.
- Total student enrollment for 2022-2023 was 11,909 in grades 9 through 12.
- The average class size for 2022-2023 was 22.
- Per student expenditure for 2022-2023 was $22,479.
- The 2020 tax rate was $2.382 per $100 assessed valuation.
- Each school has a football field, gymnasium, baseball field, tennis courts, and running track and all schools have access to swimming pools.
- Each school is equipped with a language laboratory, a library, a college/career center, three computer laboratories, a writing laboratory and a technology center.
- There are approximately 225,000 resource items housed in the District's libraries. Students also can access magazines, newspapers and specialized reference databases through online subscription sites. Materials are available in a variety of media, including videotapes, DVDs and audiobooks at each school and the District's library processing center.
- Each school serves hot lunches in its cafeteria, as well as lighter fare.
- Our Community Education program records more than 30,000 interactions annually with lifelong learners of all ages through more than 1,000 classes in four program areas.
Co-curricular Activities
- Students in every school have access to approximately 140 co-curricular activities consisting of inter-scholastic sports, fine and performing arts, student government, and interest-related clubs.
Transportation
- The district provides free bus transportation for students who live 1.5 miles or more from their assigned school.
- Transportation is available to students who live within the 1.5-mile limit but wish to pay for it.
- A late (activity) bus service is available for students who stay after school under teacher's supervision.
