District 214 welcomes new board members and elects leadership for 2025-2026

On May 8, 2025, High School District 214 officially welcomed three new members to its Board of Education and celebrated the re-election of a longstanding member. The ceremony marked a significant moment of transition and continuity in the District’s governance as the Board reorganized for the 2025-2026 school year.
Mary Kay Baldino, Vicki Chung and Joe Sagerer each took the oath of office at the May Board meeting. Together, they bring a wealth of professional expertise and a shared commitment to public education.

Mary Kay Baldino is a global talent acquisition leader with a career rooted in people-focused strategies and organizational development. She holds certifications in Strategic Workforce Planning and Lean Six Sigma and brings decades of volunteer experience in faith-based and community organizations. A longtime Arlington Heights resident and parent of two Prospect High School graduates, Baldino is deeply invested in the success of District 214 students.

Vicki Chung offers a robust background in education policy and development. She holds a Ph.D. from Northwestern University and has worked in roles spanning education consulting, analytics and nonprofit development. A former Mount Prospect School District 57 Board of Education member and active Mount Prospect volunteer, Chung has consistently focused on community engagement and cross-organizational collaboration. Her two children currently attend Prospect High School and Lincoln Middle School.

Joe Sagerer is an Elk Grove High School graduate and university lecturer in physics who has dedicated his career to supporting student achievement. As a former president and vice president of the Community Consolidated School District 59 Board of Education and a delegate to the Illinois Association of School Boards, Sagerer has prioritized early education, data-informed instruction and curriculum improvement. A Harper College Distinguished Alumni honoree, he remains actively involved in education and public service in Elk Grove Village.
Also sworn in was Mark Hineman, who was re-elected to the Board following his service since 2009. A Mount Prospect resident and engineer by profession, Hineman is known for his thoughtful approach to decision-making and his commitment to maintaining the District’s momentum as a national leader in high school education. As a proud parent of three Prospect High School graduates who are now all educators, Hineman remains committed to providing the support and resources necessary for the success of both students and staff.
Following the swearing-in ceremony, the Board held its annual reorganization. Longtime member Alva Kreutzer was re-elected as Board President. Kreutzer has served on the District 214 Board since 1999 and brings extensive leadership experience at both the local and state level, including her current role as Director of the North Cook Division of the Illinois Association of School Boards.
Frank Fiarito, who joined the Board in 2023 after years of service in River Trails School District 26, was named Vice President. Fiarito has also served on the Northwest Suburban Special Education Organization Governing Board and is known for his collaborative leadership style and deep community involvement.
Also serving is 27-year Board member Bill Dussling, who was re-elected to a 4-year term in 2023.
Together, the seven-member Board of Education provides strategic oversight for one of Illinois’ largest high school districts, serving nearly 12,000 students across six comprehensive high schools, a specialized school and a robust adult education program.
As District 214 looks ahead, the Board remains focused on supporting student opportunity, academic innovation and inclusive community engagement.
