John Hersey High School strives to provide an athletic program that is an enduring source of pride for our school and community, which develops and instills the qualities of sportsmanship, leadership, and teamwork. While competing at the highest level is a priority for our athletic department, learning valuable life lessons through participation in sports is the ultimate goal. Through participation in athletics, athletes learn life-long lessons about teamwork, commitment, discipline, leadership, hard work, grit, sportsmanship and sacrifice. “Building champions while pursuing excellence!” summarizes it best.
We appreciate the loyal support from the community and the hard work and effort invested by our players and coaches. Please be part of the effort to make this season and every game a positive learning experience for our student/athletes.
Go Huskies!!!

Message to our athletes
After each game we want our opponent, the officials, and their administration to compliment us on how hard we play and the way we conduct ourselves. Entering the stadium, during the course of the game and as we leave, we are respectful of the sport, of the opposing team, and the school we are visiting. Demonstrating sportsmanship and Huskie Pride at the highest level is of the utmost importance. We are given an amazing opportunity in athletics to represent our school, district, and community in a positive way.
Have a great season!

Message to our parents, community and spectators
John Hersey High School, as a member of the Illinois High School Association and the Mid-Suburban League Conference, is committed to providing a positive environment for students, coaches, and spectators. Athletics are a part of the educational experience that emphasizes fairness, respect, ethics, and good citizenship. So, as you support the Huskies this season, please keep in mind that the theme of high school athletics is friendly competition and sportsmanship. Positive comments, encouragement, and cheering for your team are great ways to show support. Negative comments, taunting, berating, and booing the opponents and/or officials is not appropriate and undermines the values we seek to instill in our youth. The pressure to win is not placed above education, character development, academic, social, emotional, physical, and ethical well-being of the student-athlete.
