District 214 leads the state in College and Career Pathway Endorsements

Published September 27, 2024

District 214 has solidified its position as a leader in the state by providing students with valuable College and Career Pathway Endorsements awarded by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). For the Class of 2024, the District received 844 endorsements, which is 512 more endorsements than last year. This significant growth underscores the District's ongoing commitment to preparing students for success in both higher education and the workforce.

District 214 now accounts for 35% of all endorsements awarded across Illinois, despite the fact that three times as many school districts are participating in the endorsement program this year. These endorsements reflect the District’s proactive engagement in Illinois’ College and Career Pathways Endorsement Program, which connects academic coursework with real-world experiences.

"At District 214, we are dedicated to equipping our students with the skills and experiences that directly align with labor market needs," said Superintendent Dr. Scott Rowe. "These endorsements not only recognize our students' hard work; they represent a comprehensive approach to education that prepares them to be college ready, career ready, and life ready whether they choose to pursue college or enter the workforce."

To earn these endorsements, students create personalized college and career plans, participate in hands-on experiences like internships, complete two years of relevant coursework, including at least six hours of early college credit and meet standards for non-remedial college coursework.

Looking ahead, District 214 is committed to expanding and enhancing its pathway offerings to ensure it remains at the forefront of preparing students for the future. As the District continues to grow its programs, it aims to provide even more opportunities for students to thrive in their academic and professional journeys.
