    The D214 Special Olympics team showed off their skills in the Night of Hoops event at Hersey High School. This annual event is held with Barrington High School, but the host school switches every other year. It serves as a fundraiser for Special Olympics Region B in the northwest suburbs.

  • Hersey student in the fast lane to success through apprenticeship

    Abraham Lopez is the latest in a long line of District 214 students to pursue their career interest at Arlington Heights Ford. The John Hersey High School student became an apprentice auto technician at Arlington Heights Ford last summer. Lopez graduated a semester early and now is working full time at the dealership, while working on his industry training and certification.

  • Twenty D214 music students selected for All-State honors

    Twenty students from High School District 214 schools have been selected to perform at this year’s Illinois Music Education Association (ILMEA) All-State Festival, the highest honor a high school musician can achieve. All-State musicians will travel to Peoria, IL from January 25-28, 2023 to participate in the Illinois Music Education Conference.

During the pandemic, she had been taking all her classes remotely at her previous school—and loved it. But entering the 2021-22 school year, remote classes were no longer an option. The transition felt a bit overwhelming. She felt anxious.
