    The Buffalo Grove High School Commencement Ceremony will be held in the gymnasium on Wednesday, ­­­­­May 19 at 7:00 p.m. Gymnasium doors open at 6pm. All graduates should report to the field house no later than 6:30 p.m. Parking will be challenging, so please arrive early. Graduation rehearsal will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20 in the BGHS gymnasium. All students must attend rehearsal. Tickets for the graduation ceremony will be distributed at rehearsal provided all financial obligations have been met. Any student who does not attend rehearsal or comply with rules and regulations may be excluded from the graduation ceremony.

    Mandatory Graduation Meeting

    Seniors have a mandatory graduation meeting in the theater on Wednesday, December 2nd at 8:30am. At the meeting, students will order their cap & gown and fill out information for their high school diploma. Your child needs to join the graduation Schoology® page (QD43-5CTC-V7XPG) to fill out order forms and find meeting notes and information. Share this code with your child to get on the Schoology® page early.

    Mr. Brian Walter, our Jostens® representative, will be present at the meeting to provide information on graduation announcements and memorabilia. Online orders ( are also accepted before the deadline (date TBD) to be included with the school’s group discount. We will provide deadlines soon.

    Graduation Tickets

    Each graduating senior will receive 4 tickets for the graduation ceremony. Families with multiple graduating students will receive multiple sets of tickets.  Every person, including infants, must have a ticket to view the ceremony in the gymnasium. No additional tickets are available from the school.  Seating will be available in the theater and cafeteria for family members to watch the ceremony on closed circuit television without a ticket.

    General Behavior

    All school rules and policies will be observed and enforced at Commencement. This includes, but is not limited to, the defiance of authority, disruptive behavior, and the use or possession of alcohol or drugs. The possession or use of any object that would disrupt the graduation rehearsal or ceremony or cause injury to anyone will cause the student to be removed. This is for the protection and safety of everyone.

    Student Dress

    Students must come properly dressed for the ceremony. Traditional dress for academic graduation is the cap and gown.  The cap and gown cannot be altered in any way. Honor cords and senior award medallions may be worn over the gowns. No jewelry, flowers, scarves, or other ornaments may be displayed on the cap and gown. Only tassels provided by BGHS (blue and orange, NHS, military, etc.) will be allowed.

    Appropriate attire under the cap and gown is required. Jeans, shorts, athletic wear, sport shoes, and rubber flip flops are not appropriate. Personal items such as purses and cameras cannot be carried during the ceremony. Storage for these items will not be available.

    Graduation Pictures

    For your convenience, we have made arrangements for a professional photographer to record the moment graduates are awarded their diploma. You will receive a passport-size, full color proof in the mail approximately one week after the ceremony. There is no obligation to purchase, and you will have the option of ordering several enlargement packages at very reasonable prices. This service will enable all students to have a photograph of their graduation. Family members and friends are encouraged to remain in their seats and enjoy the ceremony. Personal picture taking can be done prior to or after the ceremony. Lifetouch, our official commencement photographer, will have portraits available online at approx imately ten days after the ceremony. Celebrate your achievement with these professional portraits.
