Buffalo Grove High School is recognized as a Blue Ribbon High School by the U. S. Department of Education and was named one of the top high schools in the country by U.S. News and World Report and Newsweek magazines. In addition, Chicago magazine most recently named Buffalo Grove as one of the top 20 high schools in Cook County in the state of Illinois.

Buffalo Grove is located within a middle-income residential community 28 miles northwest of downtown Chicago and serves the section of High School District 214 in the villages of Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, and Wheeling. With an enrollment of 2,080 students, Buffalo Grove High School is a public four-year comprehensive high school that maintains a strong academic program. More than 94 percent of our graduates pursue post-secondary educational opportunities. In addition to our strong academic program that includes 23 Advanced Placement course offerings, Buffalo Grove is home to 26 multi-level athletic programs, 42 clubs and activities and an award-winning Fine Arts program. It is safe to say that the Bison have ample opportunities to display their individual talents. We are also committed to transitioning our freshmen to Buffalo Grove High School as they participate in our student lead freshmen advisory program.

Buffalo Grove prepares our students for the 21st century with not only the skills essential for productive work, but ensuring that our students are college ready and citizenship ready. Our mission is to connect students to college success and provide opportunity and access for all students. We believe we have the staff, programs, and community to maximize learning for all students within the Buffalo Grove High School Community.
