Core Aquatics now member of USA Swimming

Published: 11/05/2021

Young swimmers in the northwest suburbs can now take their skills to the next level. District 214’s Community Education swim team, Core Aquatics, was recently accepted to become a member of USA Swimming.

Core Aquatics offers swim and water polo programs for kids ages 6-18. Since the swim team’s inception nearly 20 years ago as DUST (District Unified Swim Team) and later as WHAM, it was a member of the Northern Illinois Swim Conference, a recreational league that primarily consists of park district swim teams throughout the suburbs.

USA Swimming is the nationally recognized governing body for swimming in the country. It consists of teams ranging from local competitive kids teams all the way to the USA Olympics team. Core Aquatics’s new affiliation allows local swimmers to compete on the national level.

“Our affiliation with USA swimming will increase our team's regional visibility, will provide the kids with a greatly improved experience and will set them up for success in high school and college.”said Community Education Supervisor Christopher Gorcik.

Core Aquatics Swimming also offers classes for all skill levels ranging from beginners to an adults Masters program. Registration for the winter session opens November 29. To learn more about Core Aquatics, click here.
