High School District 214 Fine Arts Coordinator and Prospect High School Head Theatre Director Jeremy Morton has been named the recipient of the Illinois Theatre Association's 2026 Award of Honor, recognizing his decades of leadership and contributions to theatre education throughout Illinois.

Morton will be honored during the Illinois Theatre Association's Awards of Excellence Celebration on Aug. 29. The statewide award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to promoting quality theatre across Illinois.

Throughout his career, Morton has inspired generations of students through award-winning productions, innovative programming and a commitment to arts education. As District 214's Fine Arts Coordinator for the past 17 years, he has helped expand opportunities for students and educators while strengthening collaboration across the District's six comprehensive high schools.

Among his many contributions, Morton co-founded the District 214 Summer Musical and has led initiatives such as Drama Day, educational theatre travel experiences and collaborative programming that encourage students to build confidence, develop leadership skills and discover their voices through the arts.
