District 214 Board of Education President Alva Kreutzer has been elected Vice President of the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB). Her election recognizes her long-standing commitment to public education and effective school board governance across the state.
An Elk Grove Village resident for more than 40 years, Kreutzer has served on the District 214 Board of Education since 1999 and currently serves as Director of the North Cook Division of the Illinois Association of School Boards. She has built a long history of community service, including four years as a Community Consolidated District 59 board member, membership on the Elk Grove Village Community Service Board and Zoning Board of Appeals, and leadership in local parent organizations as a PTO president. Kreutzer is also an active member of the Elk Grove Village Lions Club.
Her dedication to education and service has earned her state and national recognition for volunteerism, and she was named a Harper College Distinguished Alumni in 2016. Her two children are proud graduates of Elk Grove High School.
In her new statewide role, Kreutzer will serve alongside the IASB President and Board of Directors to support school boards across Illinois, guide advocacy efforts, and help shape educational policy.
“Alva’s election to this leadership role reflects her deep dedication to public education and her steady commitment to the communities she serves,” said Superintendent Scott Rowe.“Her voice will strengthen efforts to support school boards statewide and keep students at the center of every decision.”
Kreutzer shared her appreciation for the opportunity: “I am honored to serve as Vice President of the IASB. This role provides a chance to collaborate with fellow board members across Illinois, share ideas, and continue working toward high-quality educational opportunities for every student.”
