Perla Tranquilino Rodriguez Recognized by Scholastic Action Magazine
Perla Tranquilino Rodriguez, a Wheeling High School ESL 3 student, was recently recognized by Scholastic Action Magazine as a runner-up in their "Action’s True Teen Story" contest. Her submiission is entitled "New Opportunities, New Challenges"!
The magazine annually conducts this contest for students to share their personal stories. Applicants submit a 500-750 word essay describing a struggle they have faced, a passion they have or something that makes them special.
Perla will receive a monetary award. She has only been in the United States for 3 years and she arrived not knowing any English. Perla's hard work and effort is to be admired and celebrated. Congratulations Perla!
