Longtime High School District 214 Board of Education member Miriam (Mimi) Cooper has been named to the 2015 Illinois Super Lawyers list, recognizing her as one of the most exceptional attorneys in the state.
Cooper was also named one of 'The Top Women Attorneys in Illinois' by Super Lawyers.
This marks the second time Cooper has been named as an Illinois Super Lawyer, a list that recognizes no more than 5 percent of Illinois lawyers each year. Cooper was also named as an Illinois Super Lawyer in 2014.
Cooper, an Arlington Heights resident who was a teacher before becoming an attorney in 1987, is serving her seventh term on District 214’s Board. First elected in 1989, she has served as President four times. She also is Vice Chair of the District 214 Community Education Foundation Board of Trustees, championing literacy, English language learning and lifelong learning.
Cooper is a governing board member of the Northwest Suburban Bar Association and a member of the Illinois Real Estate Lawyers’ Association, and has served on the board of OMNI Youth Services. Her firm, The Law Office of Miriam Cooper, serves clients with family law and real estate matters throughout Cook, Lake, McHenry and DuPage counties.
Super Lawyers is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The annual selections are based on a statewide survey of lawyers, an independent research evaluation of candidates and peer reviews by practice area. Cooper’s name will be part of a list published nationwide in Super Lawyers Magazine and in the February edition of Chicago Magazine.
