District 214 students excel on the National Italian Exam

Forty-two Elk Grove High School students, enrolled in Italian classes taught by Anna Izzo Glinski and Effie Kalkounos Karafotias, have earned national medals and honorable mentions on the 2018 National Italian Exam. 

At Wheeling High School, 34 students enrolled in Italian classes taught by Mariangela Bonasera, Cody Mueller, and Angela Hawkins have earned national medals and honorable mentions.

The National Italian Exam is a national competition sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Italian (AATI). Students were evaluated through a rigorous examination of their listening, grammar, vocabulary, culture and reading comprehension skills in Italian throughout the United States.
