District 214 Volunteers Honored
As part of District 214's annual Distinguished Service Awards, 10 individuals were recognized for their commitment to the District's schools and programs. Honorees included parents and local business owners
who have been longtime supporters of our schools.
Our students and staff have benefited from their effective leadership and tireless energy. They have made our
schools better and our District stronger.
Zach is service manager at Hoskins Chevrolet and an Elk Grove High School graduate. Hoskins Chevrolet provides positive work experiences and a mentoring program for District 214 special education students. Zach takes his mentoring very seriously and has helped many District 214 students explore potential jobs in the automotive industry.
Carol volunteers with District 214 Community Education's Read to Learn Adult literacy/volunteer program. Since starting with the program in 2000, she has logged more than 700 tutoring hours at the District's 13 community- wide sites.
Joe and Jennifer McCallister
Buffalo Grove High School
Joe and Jennifer have been an irreplaceable part of the Buffalo Grove choir and band programs. Joe serves as Choral Guild president and the Buffalo Grove Instrumental Association vice president. Jennifer serves as the choral competition and wardrobe coordinator.
Elk Grove High School
Lynn is an outstanding ambassador for the athletic programs at Elk Grove High School. As president of the Grenadier Athletic Boosters, she has reorganized the
club's structure, organized fundraising events and sold
spirit wear at countless events to raise money for the
school and promote Booster membership.
John Hersey High School
Kelly has volunteered with several groups at John Hersey High School. Most notably, she has been an officer for the Post Prom Committee, working extremely hard to provide
a safe, substance-free event for students and helping to raise more than $20,000 each year to help offset the cost
of the event.
Prospect High School
Bruce is an alumnus of Prospect and the parent of current band members. He is an active member of the Band Booster and head of the transportation committee for the Prospect Marching Knights. In this role he is responsible for getting all of the 150-member band's instruments, uniforms and equipment to each performance.
Rolling Meadows High School
Bill is president of the Mustang Athletic Booster Club, and has been instrumental in various fundraising projects that cumulatively raised $137,000 to benefit the Rolling Meadows High School athletic department. During his time with the Club, the school has been able to purchase end zone cameras, gym scoreboards, and much more.
Juan is general manager at Chipotle in Rolling Meadows. Under his leadership, Chipotle has donated more than 1,600 meals to Vanguard students because of their community involvement and achievements at school. The partnership helped foster the Acts of Kindness program, in which Vanguard students complete work at the homes of those in need.
Wheeling High School
Vivian is a proud Wheeling High School graduate who
has had four children come through Wheeling, with another on the way. She has served as president of the Athletic Booster Club on and off for years. She has spearheaded fundraising efforts that helped purchase a stadium scoreboard, gym scoring tables, new weight room equipment and much more.
