Board of Education appoints longtime educator as Academy at Forest View assistant director

The Board of Education on March 9 appointed Dr. Deirdre Williams as assistant director of The Academy at Forest View.

Since 2013 Dr. Williams has served as the District special education coordinator, where she is a liaison for students placed in NSSEO (Northwest Suburban Special Education Organization) programming and other therapeutic day schools. Dr. Williams works closely to support students and families, helps gather and analyze district special education data and is on several district committees. 

Prior to that, she was an assistant executive director of student services at the Valley View School District and worked for the Indian Prairie School District serving as a school psychologist, assistant principal and supervisor for student teachers. Dr. Williams began her career in 1996 as a school psychologist for Willowbrook High School and then in 2000 became the school psychologist for LaGrange Area Department of Special Education.

Dr. Williams holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in psychology from Governors State University and a doctorate of education degree in administration and supervision from Loyola University Chicago.
