School-Site Administrators Resources
Observing in District 214
Policy Rationale
| |
It is important for each building’s administration to be aware at all times of visitors to our campuses who may be in contact with students. A teacher or an administrator needs to be able to verify the occupants of a particular classroom on any given day to ensure a safe and secure environment.

|
Procedure
| |
Each observer should do the following upon entering any of the District 214 schools: |
| |
Sign in and do a credential exchange at the security desk. |
| |
Report to the Main Office to pick up an Observation Form (download form below) that will be signed by the teacher in each class the observer attends. When observers check in at the Main Office, they should be asked to show an official school letter stating the reason for their visit and the number of observation hours requested. |
| |
Observers may then report to the Division Office for their subject area to obtain a copy of the schedules of teachers who may be observed. |
| |
After observing a teacher’s class, the observer must have the teacher sign the form for the specific hour attended. |
| |
At the end of each observation session, the signed Observation Form should be turned in to the secretary of the API where they are kept in a file. |
