District Internship Program Description
Township High School District 214 offers junior and senior students an opportunity to apply for and participate in an internship program. After attending "Career Night" programs and meeting with the school career advisor, students have more of an understanding and focus as to what career areas they might be interested in pursuing.
Internships allow students to participate in hands-on projects which cannot be replicated in the classroom. Students are placed at various sites in either the first or second semester. During the school year, students must be able to intern 5-10 hours per week. Depending on the number of hours, students will receive 1/2 credit per semester. All internships are unpaid and transportation is available upon request. Consider your schedule and after school activities prior to applying for admission to this program.
Some of the career areas available for internships are:
- Art
- Architecture
- Automotive
- Business
- Computer Technology
- Culinary Arts
- Education
- Engineering
- Healthcare
- Journalism
- Law
- Manufacturing
- Pharmacy
- Physical Therapy
- Veterinary Medicine
This program is available for students who are extremely committed to pursuing a specific career and have the knowledge, skill, dedication, and spirit required to engage in a very rigorous and challenging authentic learning experience.
Applications are available through your counselor or by contacting Krista Paul at (847)718-7947.
