Since cosmetology has a limited enrollment, if the number of applicants exceeds the limit, your home school has the right to select those students who are best qualified.  Late submission of this application may mean that a student cannot enroll because the course is closed.

Students need to attend a mandatory evening open house in the spring (TBA) at Empire Beauty School.

In addition to registering for cosmetology, students must also enroll in Independent Study Family & Consumer Science.
Due to the time commitment required for this program, it is recommended that students not hold outside jobs.

Course Description:

The cosmetology program is a joint educational effort between the Northwest Educational Council for Student Success
(which includes District 214, 211, and 220)  and Empire Beauty School.

Students completing this program will have met all requirements in preparation for the Illinois State Board Licensing Exam.

Students will attend the program their junior and senior year both 1st and 2nd semester and will accumulate 1500 hours while earning 1.5 high school credits per semester.   Effective 2014, interested Sophomores should apply (by January 17) to enroll in the program.

Empire determines the curriculum, rules, and guidelines of the program, while District 214 supports the disciplinary decisions of Empire.
