District Launches Mobile App
April 4, 2014
Need on-the-go information from High School District 214? There’s an app for that. The District has launched a free new iPhone- and Android-supported app giving students, parents, staff and community members mobile-friendly access to District news, co-curricular calendars and school information.
The app, the first to be launched by a large comprehensive high school district in Illinois, also provides easy access to District 214’s growing social media presence with clickable links to the official Twitter, Flickr and Facebook feeds, and allows includes a Contact Manager feature that will allow parents, students and staff to opt in to receive text message alerts in the case of school closings, emergencies or other events.
"This new app provides even more transparency and even better communication with our entire community," Director of Technology Services Keith Bockwoldt said. "We’re so proud of how we’ve embraced innovative technology to transform classroom learning, and this is an opportunity to use it in the community, meeting our students, staff, families and the public where they are and providing easy access to information they need."
The District 214 app also features maps, direct links to the Board of Education and employee contact pages of District 214’s main website, and direct links to the websites for all six of the District’s comprehensive high schools and three alternative programs.
The app was rolled out publicly at the Board of Education meeting on Thursday, March 13 and is available for download through Google Play
