Former NCAA All-American John Underwood has coached and advised more than two dozen Olympians. This fall, he brought his message to High School District 214.
Underwood, the director and founder of the American Athletic Institute, spoke to students, parents, staff and community members during an appearance at Rolling High School, discussing reaching your personal best as a student, athlete and person. The program was sponsored by the LinkTogether Coalition, a Wheeling Township-based organization that supports drug- and alcohol-free youth.
Underwood, an international-level distance runner, is a crusader for drug-free sports at all levels, and is the Master Trainer for the New York Public High School Athletic Association drug prevention program, one of the largest mandated programs in prevention history. His program "Life of an Athlete" has gained global prominence.
