Word: Changing Margin Sizes
    To change the size of the margins for the document you are currently working in, look under Document Margins in the
     Formatting Palette  (if you do not see the Formatting Palette, go to View--Formatting Palette from the menu bar).
   
    Set the size of each margin according to your needs by typing in the inches (you do not have to type the inches symbol) or by clicking the
    up/down arrows. As a general rule, don't go under .6".

OR
1.  Click Format -- Document from the menu bar or double-click in the gray area under the ruler at the top of your Word document. 
     NOTE:  You must choose this way rather than the Formatting Palette if you want to permanently change the default margin sizes for all
                   new documents.

2. The Document window will appear. Make sure the Margins tab is highlighted.

4.  To permanently change the default margin size settings for new documents, click the Default button in the bottom left corner.
     A window will appear asking if you want to change the margin default settings for all new douments. Click the "Yes" button.
