District 214 Presents "Career Nights" Programs 2012
October 3, 2012
For the ninth consecutive year, Township High School District 214 will host three "Career Nights" throughout October and November at various high school sites in the district. Each night will focus on different career clusters, highlighting various professions in each category. With representatives from numerous businesses and industries, students and their parents will receive invaluable information on planning for the future.
The selection of presenters is configured based upon a student inventory, which every student completes in the spring. Top areas of interest are chosen and speakers are invited to informally talk with students about these areas. Attending a Career Night may also help open the door to enrollment in the District Internship Program, as well as Education and Medical Academies.
The first Career Night of the school year, "Careers in Arts & Communication/Human Services," will be held at Rolling Meadows High School on Wednesday, Oct. 10.
"Careers in Health & Natural Resources" will take place at Buffalo Grove High School on Tuesday, Oct. 23.
John Hersey High School will be the site of the third and final night in the series, "Careers in Engineering/Industrial Technology/Business & Computers," on Tuesday, Nov.13.
All events will begin at 7 p.m. with registration from 6:30-7 p.m. There will be two break-out sessions and a networking session and each program will conclude at 9 p.m. Please call Krista Paul at (847) 718-7947 for more information, or contact the Career Advisor at the individual schools: Buffalo Grove and Wheeling High Schools--Ted Jackowski (847) 718-4236 or (847) 718-7049; John Hersey and Prospect High Schools--Cindy Behar (847) 718-4838 or (847) 718-5421; Elk Grove and Rolling Meadows High Schools--Don Braaten (847) 718-5805 or (847) 718-4550; or the District Office--Lori Price (847) 718-7443 and Lynette Toussaint (847) 718-7445.
